Al-Dail Ajal Syedna Ali (RA) had persuaded many enemies of Dawat in Jihad during his lifetime. It is related that during the time of his father Syedna Ibrahim (RA), Syedna Ali (RA) had captured the fortress of Kowkaban. Due to this the Zaidi Imam Mohammed bin Mutah’har (Ruler of Sana’a) envied Syedna (RA) and set out to attack Kowkaban.

It so happened that during this time Syedna (RA) was busy reciting the Qur’an-e-Majid, after the Fajr prayers, when a person informed him of the Zaidi’s march towards Kowkaban. Syedna replied to him with a calm gesture that “Allah will help us and protect us”. The informer returned and ridiculed Syedna’s approach. Sometime later the news arrived that a certain dispute had aroused in the army of the Zaidi among his nobles due and as a result he had to return to Sana’a. On hearing this Syedna remarked that “He who ridiculed us was left with his mockery, and indeed Allah has protected us”. Syedna Ali (RA) had stocked an enormous amount of grains, gold and silver for the difficult times. During the days of hardship Syedna (RA) defended mumineen and protected the Dawat with all his efforts, spemding all his precious possessions. Syedna Ali (RA) conferred Nus upon Syedna Abdul Muttalib (RA).
