Wafaat: 3rd Safar al-Muzaffar 832H/ November 1428AD, Shariqa, The Yemen

Al-Da`il ajal Syedna Ali Shamsuddin (RA) had attained completeness in ibadat (worship), taqwa (fear of the Almighty), knowledge, jihaad and virtue at a very young age.

Syedna Shamsuddin’s predecessor, Syedna Hasan (RA), had passed away in Zimarmar and news reached him in Shibaam. Molana Shamsuddin immedately called for a horse, left straight away that night and reached Zimarmar the following evening.

Molana Shamsuddin remained at the fortress in Zimarmar but the Zaidi became oppressive. Syedna remained patient in the face of his various machinations until finally surrendering the fort in order to preserve the D`awat and Mumineen.

Syedna moved on to Hisne Af’idah and from there to Hiraaz, his intention being to reach Shibaam because his successor, Syedna Idris (RA), was there. Syedna Idris had written to Molana Shamsuddin that he was prepared for battle if the order was given; so that these fortresses need not be surrendered but Molana Shamsuddin replied, “No, my son; as Allah wishes, will happen.”

Molana Shamsuddin left for Shibaam. The trials of his era had left him physically weary and so his brother Ezzudin M`aad (qs) took him down to Shariqa and there on that very day; Thursday, 3rd Safar 832H at midday Molana Shamsuddin passed away.

When news reached Syedna Idris he immediately set out to Shariqa in stormy rain and gales.

So many people had arrived in Shariqa upon hearing the tragic news that Syedna Idris states that he recalled the verse by Mutanabbi (celebrated Arab poet whose works would rank alongside Shakespeare)
They came out with him and (it was as if) every mourner surrounding him Had the scream of Musa when the Tuur mountain was destroyed.”

Such a Mola, like the Tuur mountain , was Syedna Ali Shamsuddin (RA).

His reign lasted 10 years, 4 months and 27 days.
